“Music lives and breathes to tell us who we are and what we face. It is a path between ourselves and the infinite.” (Yehudi Menuhin)
Welcome! Every person embarks on a unique journey, and music can be a significant path for personal development. Teaching and learning are inseparable. Thus, as a performer, teacher, and researcher, each role informs the others.
I aim to help my students realize their potential and explore possibilities they may not have previously considered. With guidance, students can progress and avoid frustration by setting specific, realistic goals they can eventually manage independently. Honest listening, improved problem-solving skills, and effective communication are life skills that will benefit any situation. Driven by a shared love of music, we approach our work with optimism, curiosity, and a fascination with understanding how things work, infinitely learning and growing.
I teach students of all ages, levels, abilities, and backgrounds- all are welcome. I offer 30-minute, 45-minute, and 60-minute private cello lessons in person at my home in Starkville or virtually online. I teach traditional and Suzuki methods and am a Suzuki-certified (https://suzukiassociation.org) teacher. I offer flexible scheduling to meet student needs, whether for extracurricular activities, working adults, or seasonal travel. I support those involved in school and/or youth orchestras by thoroughly preparing with them for auditions, and making lesson time available for questions about ensemble music.
